DotNetNuke

xdDesign have worked with DotNetNuke from when it was released, late 2002 early 2003.  We have continue working with this application as our primary solution for clients.  To be objective, we have looked at other solutions, including Joomla, Kentico, Drupal, Mambo, Sitefinity, Silverstripe.. just to name a few of the most commonly known solutions.

While we also provide both Windows and Linux hosting solutions, for our customers, we feel that our 7 years experience working with DotNetNuke gives us an incredible depth of understanding in the following areas -

  • how the application should work
  • how it should be implemented
  • what modules to use
  • which developers to work with
  • how to upgrade
  • how to optimse
  • how to extend
  • when to skin and theme
  • how to deploy

We work closely with developers, designers and resellers of DotNetNuke and are well known and respected in community for our contributions to help this project move ahead and provide newcomers something that we hope will inspire them to continue to use this solution for their websites.

Why we use DotNetNuke over other solutions because we feel it offers the best open source licensing model for our customers who would like to extend their online presence with custom solution and feel comfortable about true ownership of the code. But that isn’t the only reason.  For websites, we have found it incredibly solid and reliable and provides customer confidence.

We love how the urls don’t change when you want to plug in a forum or a store or a blog into the site.

We like how the interface works so non technical people can easily manage their sites without feeling intimidated. That’s important for any company wanting to manage their websites because there are plenty of web based solutions that are either overly complicated or fall short of being able to provide a full set of solutions.

We also like the degree in which you can mantain roles on your DotNetNuke website.  Without a doubt, this is one of the most diverse and extensive solutions that provide, out of the box, incredible ‘role management’.  And for the end user, this means that by default you have incredible management of who sees what pages and who edits what pages.   The membership management area of DotNetNuke is based on the Microsoft Membership Management options.

Of course there are plenty of other reasons we enjoy working with this Web Application Framework and you are invited to contact us to request more information.
