Wow, that catalook store does lots of things.. depending upon which version you buy. I had a few phone calls and email this week from developers wanting to know more about Catalook and have worked with John Mitchell from Snapsis to getting polished.

He's away for a couple of days which is why I've not been able to get the Snapsis skins online due to a problem with the host login – for some reason – I can't log in as host, but can log in as admin, really perculiar error.  Anyway before he left, he made some mods on the the store and I also made some and removed the colours with CSS and using containers only, have created a great clean, simple looking store.

Now to simplify the management process.. It's not a hard job in spite what alot of people think. You do need to look at the logic behind the process.  I'll do some simple snapshots and maybe a couple of animations to explain the processes as we build our store.

I've installed Marks' KHZStore and having a look at how that fares.. still a bit awkward to understand, but the layout and methodology is quite intuitive and can't wait to see how that works. He's come such a long way on this project and it's in between his already very successful venture with Hertz who have embraced DNN with open arms and standing ovations when he's talked about it in seminars.

So all in all, getting things finished now – I expect all the but the snapsis skins will be online today and then it's forward moving with the skinstore which will have some nice features to it, and focussed primarily on DotNetNuke skinning, design and usability.  They are often tied in together and depending upon your skill level, it might influence how you decide the design of your site.  The one thing to remember about skinning is that it's easy to upgrade, update and starting off with a simple, free, inexpensive skin can be a good strategy instead of trying to get the whole site looking like a million dollars before launching publicly.

That's about it for now.

Thanks for reading – Back again tomorrow
